How to collect RSVPs without a group chat mess
A group chat is a good place to talk and a bad place to count.
Send one invitation link and ask everyone to answer there, not in the chat: going, maybe or not this time. The answers collect on one guest list that counts itself, so the chat can stay a place to talk.
Why group chats lose RSVPs
In a group chat, an answer is just another message. A “yes!” at the top is buried under photos and jokes an hour later, a “maybe” is never followed up, and the host ends up scrolling back and counting by hand. People who did not answer are invisible, because silence looks the same as a message you missed.
The fix is to separate the conversation from the answers: keep chatting in the chat, and collect the answers in one place.
One link, three clear answers
Send one link that opens the party’s page: the name, the date, the time and the place. Each guest answers going, maybe or not this time. Three choices are enough; anything more and people hesitate.
Make answering effortless. Guests should not need to create an account, remember a password or install an app to say yes. With a link that opens in any phone browser, most answers come in within a day.
A guest list that counts itself
Every answer lands on the guest list: who is coming, who might, who cannot. The numbers update as answers arrive, and the host sees them without asking anyone again.
Add a question if you need more than yes or no, such as anything people cannot eat. The answers sit next to each guest’s name for the host only.
Chasing the maybes
A maybe is a question the guest has not answered yet. A week before the party, a short personal message works better than a reminder in the group: people answer a direct question.
Guests can change their answer until the party, and a guest who opens the invitation again sees what they answered before, so there is no confusion about which reply counts.
Keeping details up to date
Plans change: a later start, a different address. Edit the details on the party page and guests see the change the next time they open the invitation, instead of a correction lost in the chat.
Privacy for guests
Guests give only the name they want to be called; no phone number or email address is needed to answer. A guest can delete their answer from the invitation page whenever they want.
Bashlo keeps party details only as long as they are useful; the Privacy page says exactly how long.
Questions hosts ask
How do I invite guests?
Share the party’s one link or its QR code in a group chat, a message or an email. Guests open it in any phone browser and answer going, maybe or not this time; the guest list updates as the answers arrive.
Do guests need an account?
No. Guests answer the invitation and join the party from the link with only the name they want to be called: no account, no password, no email address and no phone number.
Do guests pay anything?
No. Guests never pay, and no guest is ever asked for a payment detail.
What happens to my data?
Guests give only a nickname, and the answers to the host’s questions are for the host only. A finished party is deleted 365 days after it ends and a cancelled one 30 days after it was cancelled; guests can delete their answer from the invitation page, and the Privacy page explains the rest.
