Holiday and office parties

Office parties, family gatherings and the countdown to midnight each need a different kind of party.

Choose the occasion and the crowd (friends, the office or family) when you create the party, and the prompts and activities follow that choice. Invitations, Secret Santa and the plan for the night work the same way for an office party, a family gathering or New Year’s Eve.

The season of too many parties

The end of the year brings office parties, family gatherings, friends you only see once a year and a countdown to midnight. Each one needs a different kind of evening. Bashlo lets the host say what kind of party it is, and the invitations, the questions and the activities follow.

Choose the occasion on offer when you create the party and the crowd (friends, the office or family). The prompts are written for that combination, so the questions at the office party stay office-friendly and the family round works with every generation at the table.

Office parties without the awkwardness

Office parties are hard to host: people know each other a little, but not too well, and nobody wants a question that becomes a story on Monday. Office prompts are designed to get people talking and laughing without putting anyone on the spot, votes are never shown by name, and every prompt suits the workplace.

Colleagues can join from their own phones in seconds, in the app or in the browser, so nobody has to install anything on a work phone. One person hosts, and everyone else just joins in.

Family gatherings

A family party might have a teenager, three cousins and a grandparent who has never used a party app. Family prompts suit everyone, the rules fit in one sentence, and the result appears for the whole room at once. Guests must be thirteen or older to join on their own phone; younger children can team up with a parent.

New Year’s Eve

Plan the evening around the countdown. Start early with the warm-up and a few votes while people arrive, keep a quiz for the hour before midnight, and end the activities in time to watch the clock. The plan shows how long it takes, so you can fit it to the evening.

Birthdays

Pick the birthday occasion and the prompts turn towards the guest of honour and the people who know them best. Add a question for guests (anything they cannot eat) and a potluck list, and the planning is done in one place. If the party is a surprise, share the link only with the guests: the party page is for the people who have the link.

Secret Santa

Draw names by link, with a budget and the pairs who must not draw each other, for a group of any size. Each person opens only their own name, once, and can leave a wishlist for whoever drew them. The office, the family and the friends you see once a year can each have their own.

Planning several parties in one season

If you host more than one party this season, each one is planned separately with its own guests, its own kind of night and its own plan. Your parties live in one list, so you can see which invitations are out, who answered, and which night is next. Each party keeps its guest list and answers to itself; nothing from the office party appears at the family lunch.

Nights with close friends

Not every party needs to be polite. A night with close friends can take cheekier prompts. The host chooses the kind of night when creating the party, and guests see it on the invitation and on the join screen before they join, so nobody is surprised.

Getting started

Bashlo is coming to iPhone and Android, and guests can always join from the browser. Create the party, share the link, and plan the night. Guests answer from the link in any phone browser, so the whole group can say yes in a few minutes, wherever they are.

Questions hosts ask

How do I invite guests?

Share the party’s one link or its QR code in a group chat, a message or an email. Guests open it in any phone browser and answer going, maybe or not this time; the guest list updates as the answers arrive.

How does Secret Santa work?

The host sets a budget and the pairs who must not draw each other. Each guest opens only their own name, once, from their own link, and can leave a wishlist; the host never needs to know who has whom.

Can I use it for an office party?

Yes. Choose the office crowd when you create the party and the prompts stay office-friendly; votes are never shown by name, and colleagues join from their own phones without installing anything.

How many guests can join?

Up to 80 guests can be in the room for the live program, each on their own phone. Guests must be 13 or older to join.

Do guests need an account?

No. Guests answer the invitation and join the party from the link with only the name they want to be called: no account, no password, no email address and no phone number.
